About The Position

The Level 1 Trauma Pediatric Emergency Department at Inova Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support our Pediatric patients. This is a PRN, As Needed position with 12-Hour Shifts (Days Vary). During orientation, the nurse will rotate through all shifts (Days, Mids, and Nights). The Inova Children’s Emergency Room at Fairfax Hospital is the most comprehensive pediatric ER in the region and provides family-friendly emergency care in a redesigned, spacious facility tailored to our patients. Our Pediatric Emergency Department offers dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses & Mental Health Techs, is the 3rd busiest ED in the nation, and is Northern Virginia’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. It is Magnet recognized and features experienced behavioral health nurses and an Overflow unit to assist with non-emergency patients. The department also holds the Joint Commission Gold Seal for Stroke Care, America's 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care Award™ from Healthgrades, and is staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. The facility includes specially-equipped pediatric rooms, child life specialists trained to ease anxiety, and kid-friendly treatment rooms and waiting areas.

Requirements

• Requires a minimum of one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Must be RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
• BLS from American Heart Association
• Proficient in English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others.
• Proficient computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

• Strongly prefer 2 years plus of Pediatric ED RN experience
• CEN/ACLS certification desired

• Conduct all patient care in a patient and family-centered manner.
• Use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
