About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, focusing on pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT). The hospital is a leading institution in pediatric care, with a renowned BMT program that has a long history of innovation and excellence. The Pediatric BMT & Heme/Onc Unit (Unit 4) provides care for pediatric hematology/oncology, GI patients, and their families, with 24 beds. The role involves providing complex care to patients preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, as well as those with pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders. Advanced monitoring, sophisticated medication and infusion therapies, and the operation of unit equipment are key aspects of the role. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 to 1:4.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1+ years of Acute RN, Inpatient Pediatric BMT and/or Heme/Onc Experience Required OR Will Consider New Grads with Capstone, Preceptorship or Internship in Pediatric BMT/Hem Onc

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Chemo Certified Preferred
  • Pediatric, BMT, or Heme/Onc Certifications
  • IMC Vent Training or Enrolled

Responsibilities

  • Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology.
  • Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies
  • Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
