About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the 36-bed PCU Department at Texas Health Southwest, located in Fort Worth, TX. The department has a nurse/patient ratio of 1:4 and cares for patients requiring intermediate/telemetry level of care, including post-acute stroke, general medical, endocrine, GI/renal patient populations. The facility is a MAGNET facility, a Level III Trauma Center, and a Primary Stroke center with a Stroke/Neuro designated unit. Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – within 90 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
NIHSS – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
PCU/Tele and/or strong Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
