Requirements

  • Certification in AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
  • Readiness to take call shifts is crucial, as you will need to report to the hospital within 30 minutes of being summoned
  • 1 year OR/PACU experience preferred
  • AHA BLS required, ACLS, PALS, NRP recommended
  • All OR Staff must take call (unless otherwise stated) and be able to report to hospital within 30 minutes of being called. PACU staff will take call (unless otherwise stated).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are recommended
  • Technical proficiency in nursing software and tools will be essential for documenting patient progress accurately and effectively
  • Critical thinking and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring vital signs
  • Evaluating patient responses to anesthesia
  • Providing compassionate care to ensure comfort during the recovery phase
  • Collaborating closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to manage any complications that may arise post-surgery
  • Taking call as assigned
  • Partaking in patient assessments
  • Documenting care accurately
  • Assisting in educating patients and their families about recovery protocols
  • Staying dynamic and responsive to the ever-changing needs of your patients
