About The Position

The Same Day Surgery Center at Frye Regional Medical Center offers a supportive and stable work environment, caring for a variety of patients across the life span. This 15- Surgical Suite unit features self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and every-other-weekend rotation, helping promote flexibility and work-life balance. Nurses in this unit benefit from a collaborative team culture, and the opportunity to gain diverse clinical experience.

Requirements

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of Outpatient Surgery RN experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
• Assesses learning needs and delivers age/culture-appropriate patient/family education.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may take on-call assignments.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
