This position summary outlines the role of a newly graduated RN who will practice under the direct supervision of an experienced registered nurse. The supervising RN will be available on the patient care unit and can delegate tasks that the new graduate RN has been trained for and demonstrated competence in. The new graduate RN will receive preceptorship to provide safe and cost-effective care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center Nursing Standards of Practice.

Requirements

  • A current California RN license is required.
  • A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is also required.
  • A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing is also required.
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program unless otherwise approved by the Nursing Executive Council (NEC). Approved accrediting bodies include: ACEN and CCNE others must be approved by NEC.

Responsibilities

  • Practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Provide safe and cost-effective care to the patient population.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Adhere to established MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center Nursing Standards of Practice.
