Plans and delivers professional nursing care to patients. This role involves providing care under the direction of a physician, mentoring and training new staff and students, and performing acts within the scope of practice defined by the applicable licensing board. The position requires demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care according to unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include accurately evaluating patient needs, maintaining comprehensive care plans, promoting patient independence through goal setting and family involvement, and accurately administering and evaluating medications. The role also involves educating patients and families about their care, disease processes, and symptom management, as well as completing timely and accurate documentation. The nurse will observe patients' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions, reporting any changes as directed, and acting in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values. Maintaining effective communication and professional working relationships with all stakeholders is essential, as is adhering to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
