Registered Nurse (RN) - Ortho/Joint

Sentara HealthVirginia Beach, VA
Onsite

About The Position

Sentara Health is currently hiring for an RN to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Ortho/Joint 3 West Unit. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care in a dynamic healthcare setting. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, delivering treatments, and supporting patients and families with education and compassionate service. The RN collaborates within an interdisciplinary team to monitor patient progress, make clinical adjustments, and advocate for the best patient outcomes, ensuring safety and adherence to evidence-based practices. The 3 West Ortho unit is a 12-bed unit that accommodates a variety of post-operative surgical procedures including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. It accommodates 10-20+ surgical admissions & discharges per week, resulting in a quick patient turnover. The patient population is generally thankful and has an anticipated plan of care managing pain, physical therapy & monitoring post operative complications. The unit promotes independence by encouraging mobility, which decreases the amount of total care patients. The unit coordinators work closely with all bedside nurses & especially new nurses to ensure they become comfortable & confident in the care they provide. The unit works closely with three orthopedic surgical groups that always have genuinely dedicated Nurse Practitioners & Physician Assistants on site or easily accessible, enhancing the care provided to patients in a timely manner without impeding workflow. The manager is hands-on with patient care & assisting with any needs, flexible & easy to talk to. The team enjoys listening to music & having pizza parties frequently to enhance positivity & fuel motivation.
