About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Electrophysiology Technologist (EP Tech) in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab at Roper Hospital. The role involves delivering patient care using the nursing process, including data collection, assessment, problem identification, and evaluation of care. The individual will coordinate patient teaching and collaborate with health team members. The EP Tech role requires specific certifications and education in cardiovascular technology.

Requirements

  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required for RN)
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required for RN) OR Diploma in Nursing (required for RN)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (required for EP Tech)
  • Advanced cardiac life support by end of orientation period (required for EP Tech)
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with experience in Electrophysiology (required for EP Tech)
  • PALS (required if pediatric lab for EP Tech)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science, nursing (preferred for RN)
  • Completion of Cardiovascular Technology program (preferred for EP Tech)
  • Prior EP, Cath, ED, ICU, or procedural experience (preferred by manager)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.
  • Identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs.
  • Evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care.
  • Coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities.
  • Coordinates the care provided by health team members.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures.
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
