Join our 20 bed level IIIA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Banner Estrella Medical Center that delivers professional and compassionate care to families in the Phoenix community. The NICU is part of the Women & Infant Services Department which has been recognized numerous times over the past few years as a Patient Experience Top Performer. Our highly skilled team includes experienced bedside registered nurses, licensed nursing assistants, Neonatologists, NNP, Respiratory Therapist, development specialist, Speech Therapists and IBCLC certified lactation consultants that care for the patient population. As the RN Operations Support Specialist for Neonatal ICU you will have the opportunity to primarily support the L&D onboarding and orientation oversight. You will also support WIS overall staff clinical development, clinical specialty skills pathway, quality care, risk management, safety and nursing standards, and lead department clinical practice implementation. You will be working alongside a team of dedicated leaders and associates with expertise in evidenced based patient and family centered care. Requirements

  • Previous Newborn/NICU experience is required for this role.
  • Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.
  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
  • An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
  • Employees working at BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians.
  • Support the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses.
  • Support career development and effective internal clinical communications.
  • Serve as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving.
  • Proactively support the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems.
  • Assist in resolution of systems issues and enforce facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care.
  • Coordinate oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards.
  • Act as a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility).
  • Develop and coordinate system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways.
  • Lead and implement facility clinical initiatives.
  • Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care.
  • Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
  • Performs standard assignments within own job functions.
  • Identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using established procedures.
  • Responds to non-standard requests from internal and/or external customers; investigates with assistance from others, as needed.
  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.
