About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for a specialty training opportunity in the Operating Rooms. This program is part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), aimed at enhancing nursing practice and quality of care. VCH is committed to fostering quality practice and learning environments where nurses can grow and thrive, guided by values of caring for everyone, continuous learning, and striving for better results. This is a full-time training program with funding for wages, tuition, and books. Candidates must commit to remaining with VCH as a regular status nurse in the applicable nursing area for at least 18 months post-training to consolidate and apply learned skills. Failure to do so may result in VCH seeking to recover program costs. Training and post-training consolidation will occur at Richmond Hospital, which will also be the work site following the program.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) designation.
  • Resume and cover letter required for application.
  • Willingness to commit to 18 months of service with VCH post-training.
  • Ability to attend full-time training.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in perioperative nursing.
  • Previous courses completed may modify course dates and funding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care within the Operating Room setting.
  • Participate in a full-time post-basic training education program.
  • Commit to working for Vancouver Coastal Health for at least 18 months post-training in the specialty area.
  • Consolidate and apply skills learned during the training program.
  • Adhere to minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs).
