About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for a training opportunity in the Operating Rooms. This program is part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), aimed at enhancing nursing practice and quality of care. This is a training opportunity that requires full-time attendance and commitment. Successful candidates will receive 100% of wages, tuition, and books during the training program. Upon completion, candidates agree to remain with VCH as a regular status nurse in the applicable nursing area for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training. Failure to do so may result in VCH seeking to recover the program costs. Training and post-training consolidation will be located at VGH Hospital, with the work site for these positions following training being Vancouver General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Must agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Must provide information regarding past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as part of the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded.

  • Provide information as part of the onboarding process for new hires.
