The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) at the Surgery Center will engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to influence care outcomes. The RN will uphold and promote a culture of safety, continuously evaluating patient, team, and unit outcomes and taking action as needed. Responsibilities may include administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols. The role requires demonstrating effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills to foster team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The RN is expected to pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel is expected, along with maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation. The RN may be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span and assessing data reflective of patient status.
