About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room Department PeriOp course. This is a Monday to Friday day shift schedule during the 4-month training program. The program includes didactic content, AORN online modules, classroom discussions, policy and procedure review and application, skills labs, and clinical experiences at the hiring hospital. PeriOp 101 is required for experienced nurses wishing to change specialties and new graduate nurses entering into practice. The Operating Room at SMJH performs an average of 7,000 cases each year, has 8 OR suites, and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures. This position offers 8- and 10-hour schedules with required call. The call schedule is 1 day per week and one weekend per month from 7P to 7A. A sign-on bonus up to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates!

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
  • Registered nursing License
  • Registered Nursing Experience
  • Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
  • Communication with patients and providers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
  • ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
  • PALS within 1 year of hire.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.
