About The Position

Responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality patient and family centered care in the operating room, and across all perioperative service areas for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. This role includes comprehensive patient assessment, individualized care planning, and implementation of safety-focused interventions to support optimal surgical outcomes. The RN ensures proper surgical site verification, specimen management, medication administration, and infection prevention while maintaining clear communication across the care team. The nurse also participates in quality improvement, provides patient education, supports interdisciplinary collaboration, mentors new staff, and may assume charge responsibilities, all while upholding professional, ethical, and culturally competent standards of care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Minnesota.
  • Completion of a post-basic operating room course or a minimum of two years of recent operating room experience.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Proficient in basic computer and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Current licensure in the State of Minnesota.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required, or eligibility to obtain certification within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of experience in perioperative nursing or surgical services.
  • Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) through the Competency & Credentialing Institute.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification is preferred through Competency and Credentialing Institute.
