About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Operating Room at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in downtown Milwaukee, WI. The role involves providing direct patient care in 14 OR beds, covering specialties such as Orthopedics, GYN, general, bariatric, robotic, urology, plastics, dental, and ECT patients. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weeknight, weekend, and holiday call, with staff living within 30 minutes of the hospital for on-call duties. The pay range is $38.20 - $57.30 per hour.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

Deliver individualized care using the nursing process—assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, mobilizing resources and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.
Promote patient safety by implementing risk-reduction strategies and reporting safety events promptly.
Verify patient identity, allergies, and surgical site.
Educate patients and families, adapting teaching methods to meet unique learning needs and supporting readiness for discharge.
Coordinate care and discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach, ensuring continuity across the healthcare continuum.
Lead and delegate effectively, fostering teamwork and supporting unlicensed personnel.
Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and unit performance.
Maintain professional growth through ongoing education, competency completion, and participation in shared governance activities.
Perform patient care tasks such as time outs, positioning of patient, maintaining a sterile and safe environment, preparing the OR with necessary supplies, checking for inventory, and documenting all aspects of the procedure.
