Registered Nurse (RN) - Onsite Inpatient Virtual Support
About The Position
Sentara is hiring Registered Nurses for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Brand-New Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department. This position is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA. The role leverages technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs alleviate workload and improve satisfaction for patients and staff by handling administrative tasks that do not require hands-on care, thus improving workflow and ensuring patients are informed. Virtual nurses are an additional member of the hospital care team, working collaboratively with bedside nurses to ensure safe and high-quality care. Patients communicate with virtual nurses via a HIPAA-compliant audio-visual device in the hospital room. The role involves performing nursing duties via video call from the Virtual Care hub call center, such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, and medication reconciliation.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse License (Required)
- RN-Associate’s Degree/Compact Multi-Sate VA/NC (Required)
- 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience required
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN preferred
- IMCU experience preferred
- Epic experience preferred
- NIHSS and ACLS preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing duties via video call with this innovative care model from the Virtual Care hub call center such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation, and much more.
- Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside.
- Handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don’t require hands-on care.
- Improve workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.
- Work together with bedside nurses to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care.
