About The Position

The Nurse Navigator functions as part of a multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for oncology patients. This position will be responsible for development and coordination of this program. The Nurse Navigator will be responsible for ensuring all patients with an oncology diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive services, coordinating patient care throughout the continuum in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, and serving as a clinical resource with expertise in hematology, oncology and radiation oncology care management. This position will serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this unique patient population through clinical knowledge expertise consultation, education and research. In the execution of job duties, it is the universal expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient centered focus, while also seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure to practice in the state of Kentucky or a current Registered Nurse licensure with a multistate compact status
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification or obtained within 90 days after hire date
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology nursing certification preferred
