The Ambulatory and Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN), a member of Advocate Health Nursing Professional Governance community, provides high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice, clinical expertise , and compassionate care delivery in an ambulatory care setting. Oncology Infusion at Advocate Health in Aurora, IL, provides specialized, compassionate care for patients receiving infusion-based cancer treatment and supportive therapies. Our infusion team is dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care in a welcoming and patient-centered environment. We support patients throughout their treatment journey by administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration, and other infusion services while closely monitoring comfort, safety, and response to treatment. Working collaboratively with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and support staff, our team is committed to clinical excellence, coordination of care, and an exceptional patient experience. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse: 2 years’ experience preferred
  • Oncology: 1 year experience in oncology preferred
  • CERTIFICATION CPR-Healthcare Provider
  • Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy: as required by the Site

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred
  • OCN preferred or obtained when OCN requirements met
  • Oncology experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides and coordinates comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Uses evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills of communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
  • Responsible for the infusion authorization process, including scrubbing infusion orders and ensuring authorizations are in place prior to treatment.
  • Collaborates closely with the charge nurse, scheduling PSR’s, and the authorization team to support timely coordination of care and clinic operations.
  • Management of the "Patient Own Medication" workflow.
  • Collaborates closely with the charge nurse to support timely coordination of care and clinic operations.
  • Reviews the specialty infusion intake orders.
  • Acts as a liaison between ordering providers and infusion clinics.
  • Various other administrative/clerical duties as needed to help support the infusion clinic.
  • Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration, and other infusion services while closely monitoring comfort, safety, and response to treatment.
