Registered Nurse (RN) Observation Unit
About The Position
Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse to join the Observation team. This role will be part-time Day shift from Monday – Friday (including some weekends), 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Inova is consistently ranked a national healthcare leader in safety, quality and patient experience. The Observation Unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital is a 27-bed unit with a rapid patient turnover of admission and discharges. The patient population consists of cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical patients. Learn the fast-paced atmosphere of an ER setting while gaining critical medical/surgical nursing skills. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- 1 year of Nursing experience
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (upon start)
- Registered Nurse (Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.)
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in: Observation, ED, and Cardiac/Cardiac Telemetry strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
- Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
- Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
- Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
- Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
- Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
- Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
- Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.
