About The Position

The nursing education coordinator is responsible for overseeing the clinical training and ongoing professional development of nursing and other clinical staff for Episcopal Church Home. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and Manager of Information Technology this position is responsible for implementation, ongoing updates, and maintenance of Electronic Health Records.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in training adults at all skill levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR.
  • Ability to train nursing staff members in various electronic documentation tools.
  • Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.
  • A Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure in New York State.
  • Three years of clinical experience with supervisory and gerontology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with nursing management to provide a clinical orientation that meets the needs of the facility and the new staff member.
  • Partner with ADON and Manager of information technology to implement and sustain EMR.
  • Train staff at all levels to fully utilize EMR.
  • Implement e-prescribing techniques for nursing and medical staff.
  • Oversee in-service education for CNAs in compliance with government regulations.
  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction about policies and procedures impacting resident care in collaboration with DON and ADON.
  • Assessment of the clinical competencies of clinical staff as indicated to ensure quality performance.
  • Develop, implement and conduct relevant in-service training programs.
  • Establish and maintain a network of contacts with health-related agencies.
  • In collaboration with the ADON /DON will coordinate and maintain medication error process.
  • Utilize outside training programs and on-line resources to maximize development opportunities for staff.
  • Coordinate the clinical rotation of students from external programs.
  • In collaboration with the Administrator Licensed Nursing Home and the ADON review and revise nursing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ECH quality assurance committee.
  • Report unsafe condition to security, maintenance as soon as possible.
  • Familiar with established emergency procedures and staff incidents.
