Prisma Health's Nurse Residency Program is designed for new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience. This program blends core clinical training with specialty-specific education, including quality and safety classes, simulation labs, one-on-one skills validation, hands-on learning with clinical mentors, and ongoing professional development. The program aims to build a strong foundation for a successful nursing career. The role involves providing clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient/family-centered care. It requires demonstrating clinical competency using evidence-based practices in assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The nurse will incorporate knowledge of safety protocols, cost containment, and quality improvement, while identifying patient, unit, and organizational priorities. Adherence to compliance and organizational policies, including licensure renewal, training, employee health, time and attendance, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration, is mandatory. The role also requires knowledge of regulatory agency requirements (TJC, SC DPH, CMS) and providing care within the scope of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. The acute inpatient setting may require scheduling for weekend, holiday, and on-call work.
