About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro/Ortho/Peds Unit is a full-time position (0.9 FTE or 72 hours per pay period) with a schedule of 6 x 12-hour shifts, Nights (7p-7a), including rotating weekends and holidays. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available to qualified applicants. The Neuro/Ortho/Peds (NOP) unit is a 24-bed specialty med/surg unit that cares for a variety of neuro and ortho patients, including those from scheduled procedures and trauma events, as well as pediatric patients. The unit focuses on providing quality acute care while promoting safety, and the team is described as experienced, supportive, and collaborative.

Requirements

  • Current Michigan RN license
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
