About The Position

This is a full-time, night shift position for a Registered Nurse in the Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The NSICU is a 22-bed unit that cares for high acuity, high volume patients including Stroke, MSOF patients, CRRT, Vent-patients, and those requiring all forms of life support. The department also supports the Brain Tumor and Spine program. The unit prides itself on high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills and offers a supportive, team environment with outstanding opportunities for growth. Self-scheduling is available to help with work/life balance, along with opportunities for educational and career growth. The department is a three-time Beacon Reward Recipient.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required
  • 1-year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

  • ICU/PCU and ED experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
