This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Atrium Health Union. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, with appropriate action taken as needed. The nurse may administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Professional development, continuing education, and maintaining certifications are expected. The role adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics, practices ethical decision-making, respects interdisciplinary roles, and contributes to integrated, unbiased patient care. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation are also key duties. The nurse may be required to float to other units to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan.
