About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring an RN for our Medicine Cardiac Telemetry Unit! This is a Full Time position with multiple shifts available. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. 4 West is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit with a specialized focus in cardiac care. In addition to caring for cardiac patients, the unit provides comprehensive care to a diverse medical-surgical population with a wide range of diagnoses. The unit offers an exceptional practice environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduate nurses. Patient care on 4 West is enhanced by a highly supportive, multidisciplinary team. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) assist with medication administration and bedside nursing care, while Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) support with ambulation, obtaining labs, activities of daily living (ADLs), and other essential patient care tasks. Dedicated Unit Coordinators and experienced nurse preceptors further strengthen the team by fostering a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment. This makes 4 West an ideal setting for professional growth, skill development, and long-term career advancement. 4 West has a strong track record of achieving high-quality patient outcomes and consistently excels in delivering an exceptional patient experience. New Grad RNs are Welcome to Apply! This unit welcomes new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty. The 11-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Requirements

  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • None required (experience)

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Provide comprehensive care to a diverse medical-surgical population with a wide range of diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including LPNs and PCTs to ensure seamless and efficient care delivery.
  • Foster a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.
