About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical - Nights $20, 000 sign-on bonus eligibility. Schedule: 3 –12-hour shifts 7P-7A. The unit is an acute care medical-surgical unit, a 24-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio and a 1:10 CA-to-nurse ratio. It serves a diverse patient population including medical, surgical, testing, and observation patients with common comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, stroke, renal, and psychiatric conditions. The team fosters a strong team culture, improved nurse communication, and commitment to Sovah Health core values.
Requirements
- Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
- Associate degree in nursing required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities
- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
- Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
- Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
