The unit is a twenty-five bed Med-Surg with a reasonable 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and a supportive manager that prioritizes patient safety and positive outcomes. It offers a mixture of acute care experiences, including Telemetry, occasional Pediatrics, Medical, and Surgical, with opportunities for growth. The hospital provides preceptor programs for new nurses to aid in their transition into Med-Surg and offers opportunities for learning and professional development such as charge nurse, preceptor, and clinical ladder programs. Flexibility with self-scheduling allows for continuing education or a balance between work and personal life.

Requirements

• Current VA or compact RN license
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire
• ACLS and PALS within one year of hire

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
