About The Position

George Washington University Hospital (GWUH) is seeking a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Neuro | Ortho | Trauma unit (6 North). This role is ideal for Med-Surg RNs interested in caring for a diverse acute-care patient population and expanding their skills in neurologic and trauma-related conditions within a highly supported academic environment. The RN will provide direct patient care to individuals with a wide range of medical and post-operative needs, including patients with neurologic injuries such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spine conditions. The 6 North unit is a 42-bed, multi-specialty acute care unit supporting patients across medical-surgical, neurologic, orthopedic, and trauma diagnoses. It is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Unit and a Level IV Epilepsy Center. The unit utilizes advanced monitoring technology and supports nurses transitioning from Medical-Surgical practice through structured orientation, preceptorship, and ongoing education.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
BLS
Current state nursing license.
Requirements specified for specialty unit
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Nice To Haves

Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
