The Med-Surg unit is a twenty-five bed unit with a reasonable 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and a supportive manager that prioritizes patient safety and positive outcomes. The unit has a mixture of acute care, offering experiences in Telemetry, occasional Pediatrics, Medical and Surgical with opportunities for growth. We offer preceptor programs for new nurses to help with transition into Med-Surg and opportunities for learning/professional development such as charge nurse, preceptor, and clinical ladder program. Flexibility with self-scheduling allows for continuing education or balance between work and personal life.
Requirements
- Current VA or compact RN license
- Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS and PALS within one year of hire
Responsibilities
- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
- Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
