About The Position

The Med Surg Ortho Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and those with musculoskeletal conditions. This role involves managing post-operative care, pain control, mobility assistance, and patient education while ensuring adherence to safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
Current RN license in [State].
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg or orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of orthopedic procedures and post-op care.
Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.
Effective communication and patient education abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand, walk, and assist with patient mobility for extended periods.
Manual dexterity for wound care and medication administration.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
Orthopedic Nursing Certification (ONC) – Preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver direct patient care for orthopedic and general medical-surgical patients.
Monitor vital signs, surgical sites, and neurovascular status; promptly report changes.
Administer medications, pain management therapies, and IV fluids as prescribed.
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and physical therapy exercises.
Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and rehabilitation plans.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize recovery.
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control, and safety standards.
