About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical – Oncology position at Texas Health Plano is a full-time role working 36 hours weekly on day shifts, consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The Medical Surgical Oncology department is a 24-bed unit that cares for patients undergoing chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and complex biologic drug infusions.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
• Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – upon hire – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
• ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days Req
• ONS - Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate 18 Months Req
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of RN experience in Oncology preferred

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
• Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information.
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers.
