About The Position

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Pulaski is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit. This is a full-time day position with a 3x12 schedule (7a-7p) including rotating weekends. The role involves providing direct patient care, performing interventions, documenting care, monitoring patient conditions, assisting with daily living activities, collaborating with other disciplines, educating patients and families, and advocating for patient well-being. The unit is described as a friendly, family-oriented environment with strong teamwork and supportive leadership.

Requirements

  • Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact)
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
  • Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
  • Associate's degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
