About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical PCU – Full-time, 7P Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are better + together. Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am. Department highlights: 28-bed Medical PCU department. Intermediate level of care to a wide variety of medical patients at a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio. This patient population requiring specialized monitoring and interventions, includes patient diagnosis such as: diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, home ventilation systems, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities. Medication management includes continuous and titratable IV medications to support the intermediate care population. MAGNET facility Level I Trauma Center Primary Heart Attack Center PHAC. Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
