About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The MICU is a 22-bed unit that cares for patients requiring various forms of life support, including MSOF patients, ECMO, CRRT, and vent patients. The department is a Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility, known for its high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills. The unit offers self-scheduling to promote work-life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth, supported by a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. This is a high acuity, high volume department.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred.
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
ICU/PCU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
