This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Atrium Health University City. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, administering medications and treatments safely, demonstrating effective communication and conflict resolution, and pursuing professional development. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and ethical decision-making is expected, along with appropriate delegation and accurate EHR documentation. The nurse may be required to float to other units to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care. This role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles over the life span.
