About The Position

St. Croix Health is currently seeking a part-time (0.60 FTE) Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. This position will work night shifts (7 pm - 7:30 am), every third weekend and holiday. The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional who delivers therapeutic, patient- and family-centered care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN conducts comprehensive nursing assessments including physical, psychosocial, functional, and educational readiness evaluations to inform individualized care plans. The RN develops, implements, and continuously evaluates these plans to support effective treatment, safe discharge planning, and continuity of care. The RN delegates and supervises care in accordance with the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act, applying clinical judgment and ethical decision-making. In this role, the RN actively integrates evidence-based practice, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and maintains accountability for ongoing professional development. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required
  • Current WI Registered Nurse license required
  • BLS required upon hire
  • Strong verbal and active listening skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving, using logic and reasoning to evaluate options and determine the most effective solutions.
  • Attentive and empathetic listener who seeks to understand others’ perspectives before responding.
  • Capable of analyzing complex information and making sound clinical decisions based on evaluation of outcomes.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to set clear goals, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Acute care services experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled patient care, including comprehensive assessments, collaborative care planning with the multidisciplinary team, individualized care plan development and evaluation, clear communication with patients and families, and ensuring safe, competent, and ethical care delivery.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional growth and competent nursing practice by applying infection control knowledge, utilizing critical thinking, integrating clinical knowledge, and engaging in ongoing professional development and mentorship.
  • Accurately document all patient care data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and physicians, supervising Certified Nursing Assistants, providing patient and family education, conducting community assessments, and reporting patient status as needed.
