About The Position

The MedSurg unit is located on the 2nd floor and consists of 40 beds, though we typically care for no more than 28 patients at a time. Additionally, we manage an overflow unit on 4 East, which usually accommodates six patients and is staffed with two RNs providing primary care. The 2nd floor serves as the main MedSurg unit, caring for general medical-surgical patients, hospice patients, and telemetry patients who are medically appropriate for the unit. Our patient population primarily consists of older adults. The overflow unit generally has patients of lower acuity. Typical staffing includes 4–5 patients per RN from 07:00–23:00 and up to 6 patients per RN from 23:00–07:00, with CNAs caring for 6–8 patients. We also have a Health Unit Coordinator available 16 hours per day, seven days a week, along with a dedicated Supervisor, Manager, and shared Nursing Professional Development Generalist. The average patient length of stay is three days. Our unit is known for high patient and teammate satisfaction, a great teaching team, and supportive leadership that fosters professional development and growth. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
