About The Position

Provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies and procedures. Directs and manages the care of designated patients, communicates effectively, helps maintain a safe work environment, and maintains clinical and professional competency appropriate to the patient population. The position is full-time, onsite, and based at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono Creek. The schedule is 1900–0730, three 12-hour shifts, every third weekend, and every other holiday.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to the specialty.
Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
Basic computer skills.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Pennsylvania, required upon hire.
Pennsylvania Licensed Registered Nurse (RN), required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients.
Recognize when collaboration or communication with physicians and interdisciplinary team members is needed, and take action to proactively resolve patient needs.
Synthesize relevant data, information, and knowledge to make decisions that optimize patient outcomes in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics.
Promote quality and safety in accordance with established policies and procedures and use evidence-based practice; participate in evidence-based practice and research projects as applicable.
Communicate effectively with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues, using appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles.
Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout treatment to support an effective transition of care.
Support unit and hospital goals and objectives as a department team member, and participate in all phases of performance improvement, including patient experience goals.
Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
Use technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills, including teaching and mentoring new colleagues and department interns, and precepting when assigned.
Delegate based on team members’ skills and expertise, patient acuity and needs, and team members’ availability.
Provide input, as requested, for performance appraisals of care delivery team members.
