About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 6 unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. This role offers a dynamic and exciting environment with a wide range of patient population experiences. At the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, we are committed to delivering outstanding healthcare with a focus on innovation, utilizing groundbreaking technology and treatments. Our partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians allows us to specialize in breakthrough treatments, surgical techniques, lifesaving therapies, and clinical trials. The unit is a 24-bed unit with 12 telemetry beds, and care delivery typically involves a 4-5 patient assignment. The team works with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including Sepsis, Overdoses/Withdrawals, Surgical Procedures, Telemetry, Diabetes, Pneumonia, Altered Mental Status (AMS), and more. Adaptability, willingness to learn, and critical thinking skills are essential for success. We are seeking individuals who excel in a fast-paced environment, are adept at problem-solving, flexible, collaborative, and dedicated to patient-first care.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
  • New grads with inpatient clinical experience are encouraged to apply!

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Preferred experience working as an RN

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and prioritizes care accordingly.
  • Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.
