About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessing the patient, planning the care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. This role will incorporate age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care, initiate action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintain continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. The Medical Surgical Department is a 34-bed unit that provides quality care to medical/post-surgical patients, including those admitted for general medical surgeries such as appendectomies, bowel, knee, hip, joint replacement, gastrointestinal, and urology surgeries, as well as general medical conditions and illnesses.

Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required
One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care required
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
One (1) year of RN experience in Med/surg strongly preferred
Charge nurse/preceptor experience preferred.
