About The Position

This is a Collective Bargaining Unit position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg Oncology unit at Lorain Hospital. The role is full-time, scheduled for 36 weekly hours, with shift times typically from 7pm to 7:30am, including rotating weekends and holidays. The Clinical Nurse I (CN I) functions as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, directing patient care and utilizing the CN II as a resource. Nursing care involves independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Competencies in using equipment for various patient age groups are demonstrated. The CN I is the entry step to the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder, with one year to progress to the CN II level.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure from the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period.
  • Completes Orientation Checklist.
  • Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification.
  • Must have theoretical knowledge combined with beginning level clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients.
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress to the CN II level within one year.
