About The Position

The Registered Nurse Specialty functions under the direction of the Office Manager and/or Physician and is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for coordinating and providing safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age appropriate and culturally aware needs. The nurse addresses the patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and education needs. The nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care in complex situations, coordination of patient care activities, staff development and professional self-development. The nurse is able to independently perform job functions.

  • RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
  • National certification in area of specialty Upon Hire Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year direct patient care in an acute care setting Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient using Triage flow sheet and guidelines.
  • Anticipates patient needs/difficulties and potential problems related to diagnosis and situation.
  • Communicate with physician regarding any complications.
  • Prepares patient and assists provider with examination and procedures, anticipating and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Management of patients with chest pain to facilitate assessment, prevent delays in definitive care and maximize the patients potential for recovery.
  • Provide patient education for Holter monitor and event monitors, devices and procedures.
  • Provide education booklet(s).
  • Assist with gathering of medical records and assure confidentiality of records.
  • Assess need and assist with refills of medications.
  • Coordinates back office flow and processes to assure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Facilitates smooth patient flow to decrease patient wait time and increase office efficiency.
  • Assesses patient needs/symptoms based upon data collected, to include preventative and screening measures.
  • Coordinate scheduling of patients in need of new device(pacemaker, defibrillator, biventricular device) or EP study/Ablation, or other labs,
  • Assist in management of Coumadin dosage as per office guidelines.
  • Must be able to multi task and function without supervision, and to handle a variety of emergent patients using the triage method.
  • Complete all documentation and charting associated with patient visit and care.
  • Assist physician in hospital with patient rounds Associated responsibility/function/expectation.
  • Assess patients post procedure and arrange for follow up.
  • Communicate with physician regarding any complications of patient recovery.
  • Collaborates with other health care team members regarding patient care issues.
  • Initial management of patients who have had actual or suspected exposure to a biological agent or other potential contaminants, as well as to prevent exposure of staff, physicians, and visitors.
  • Collaborates with Providers to develop and/or implement clinical policy and procedures to assure quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinates quality control development, implementation and monitoring for clinical functions.
  • Assures that all quality control measures are completed and documented on appropriate logs.
  • Ascertain patient consent for surgery/ procedures.
  • Educate use and applications of Event, Telemetry and Holter monitors.
  • Must be proficient at IV insertion, phlebotomy and venipuncture.
  • Perform electrocardiograms.
  • Obtains laboratory reports, assures provider review and signature, notifies patient with results and recommendation after provider review, documents and files in chart appropriately.
  • Assures proper collection of specimens and proper preparation of laboratory request forms to include proper coding and billing information.
  • Assures that rooms and equipment are clean, socked appropriately and supply inventories are maintained.
  • Retrieve messages and review patient EMR.
  • Message Physician with patients concern and respond to patient in timely manner with orders.
  • Record all phone conversations with patients in EMR.
  • Report results of tests to patients at direction of Physician.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
