About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main Operating Room (OR). The ideal candidate is a capable clinician focused on expanding knowledge and skills, consistently providing effective direct care to a variety of complex patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. The nurse will seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice and assume a beginning leadership role with mentoring. This job description aligns with the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model. The definition of nursing provided is: the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities and populations. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • If no previous OR experience, must successfully complete and pass final examination of the AORN Periop 101 Core Curriculum program within six months of hire.
