Requirements

  • RN: Graduation from RN program and current RN license.
  • RN: Basic Life Support (BLS) required, must obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • LPN: Graduation from LPN program and current LPN license.
  • LPN: Basic Life Support (BLS) required, must obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • MA: 1-3 years relevant clinical experience or current valid medical assistant credentials.
  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) required, must obtain within first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • RN: Minimum of two years nursing experience in a Clinic setting.
  • RN: Community health nursing experience.
  • RN: ER or Urgent Care experience.
  • LPN: Minimum of one year nursing experience in a Clinic setting.
  • LPN: Community health nursing experience.
  • MA: Graduation from a medical assistant program.

Responsibilities

  • RN: Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • RN: Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other to address all identified needs.
  • RN: Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • RN: Evaluates the identified problems, care provided and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • RN: Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
  • RN: Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
  • RN: Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
  • RN: Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the physicians and/or nurse practitioners.
  • RN: Measures vital signs, performs EKGs, venipuncture, capillary blood glucose testing. Interviews patients/clients and/or family members to obtain accurate health information and ensures information is documented in the patients/clients chart. Assists patients/clients or family members with completion of medical forms (as needed).
  • RN: Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets physicians’/nurse practitioners’ instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed and needed.
  • LPN: Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implantation of basic preventative, therapeutic, and nursing care of assigned patient as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes.
  • LPN: Perform delegated nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards as observed by the registered nurse.
  • LPN: Assists in data collection on the EMR.
  • LPN: Carries out physician orders accurately, directly, and indirectly.
  • LPN: Administers medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes.
  • LPN: Maintain and coordinate communication among patient, staff, and physician as evidenced within medical record, client, and health care team feedback.
  • LPN: Report patient needs/programs and observations regarding patient’s condition to the physician.
  • LPN: Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team in coordination of the patient’s care as evidenced by other department feedback.
  • LPN: Participates in staff development programs.
  • LPN: Takes direction and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
  • MA: Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • MA: Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • MA: Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • MA: Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • MA: Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • MA: Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • MA: Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • MA: Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
  • MA: Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
  • MA: Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
