About The Position

Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities. The Habersham Labor and Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum Unit (LDRP) consists of 9 labor/delivery/recovery/post-partum beds, 1 triage bed, and a 2-bed well-baby nursery. This unit provides care to women and infants for various treatments including laboring patients, scheduled inductions, scheduled cesarean sections, obstetrical emergencies, intrauterine fetal demise/miscarriage, well infants after birth, post-partum recovery, post-operative recovery from gynecology surgeries, low-risk antepartum care, and Level I infants needing continuing care such as phototherapy. Treatments are performed under the orders of NGMC credentialed physicians, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners, within the policies and procedures of NGMC and the scope of practice for registered nurses as defined by the State of Georgia. The role involves providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process, coordinating care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes, and seeking consultation with more experienced clinicians. For new graduate RNs, the focus is on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in caring for increasingly complex patients. The position requires participation in shared governance and unit councils to improve nursing-sensitive indicators, RN satisfaction, employee engagement, culture of safety, and patient experience data. Collaboration with other care team members is essential for recruiting and retaining an excellent nursing care team.

Requirements

Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia
Associates Degree
One year of experience as a professional RN

Responsibilities

Provide direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process.
Coordinate care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes.
Seek consultation with more experienced clinicians and accept feedback as a constructive professional development tool.
Participate in VOICE professional nursing shared governance, providing feedback on issues.
Participate as a member on VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams.
Actively participate on Unit Council helping with plans to improve NDNQI nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data.
Work together with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team.
Demonstrate basic assessment skills.
Demonstrate the 5 rights of medication administration.
Manage care for basic patient assignment and progress to care for increasingly complex patients.
Accurately document all aspects of the nursing process using the electronic medical record.
Understand and comply with all DNV standards.
Access and follow policies.
Evaluate patient response to interventions and adjust the plan of care appropriately.
Consistently coordinate interdisciplinary care.
Use resources effectively to reduce waste.
Participate in PI processes.
