About The Position
The Siratt Women's Center at Texas Health Hurst Euless Bedford (HEB) Hospital has a PRN opportunity for an experienced Lactation Consultant. This role is part of a 16 bed NICU, 9 bed L&D unit and 4 bed OB ED, 3 OR suites unit with an average of 200 deliveries a month. The unit is a Level II NICU and has Maternal Designation III.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- IBCLC – Lactation Consultant upon hire
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire
- 1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse required
Nice To Haves
- Current Lactation experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
