About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Labor and Delivery unit. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves providing direct patient care, guiding patient and family education, and directing other nursing personnel while upholding high standards of care in the Birthplace. The nurse must be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment responses, ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors, and utilize the chain of command to ensure the well-being of newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License.
BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current.
ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current.
NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current.
Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months.
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred.
STABLE preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace.
Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
Provides for a safe environment for patients and visitors.
Utilizes the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care to newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.
