Oversees the daily operations of one or more nursing departments, including but not limited to: daily operations, program planning, financial planning and budget oversight, quality improvement, quality patient care and supervision/development of staff in accordance with all professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards. This role involves overseeing 24/7 operations of the department, facilitating departmental compliance with all professional, local, state, national, and Joint Commission standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The manager develops and maintains relevant policies, procedures, and standards of care, and represents the department/service at site and regional meetings. Financial management includes collaborating with the finance department and site leadership in preparing annual operating and capital budgets, managing services within budgetary guidelines, ensuring appropriate revenue capture, and managing inventory. HR leadership responsibilities include providing leadership to staff, collaborating with Human Resources for recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training, developing and maintaining staffing levels, conducting annual and ongoing appraisal of employee performance, and fostering effective communication. The position also entails performance improvement, such as developing and implementing a comprehensive quality assurance/performance improvement program, developing expectations for customer service, incorporating rounding into regular activities, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to identify and improve patient care processes.
