About The Position

Holy Cross Germantown Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse (RN) to join their dedicated maternity care team. Using the Quality Caring Model, the L&D Nurse provides expert, patient-centered care throughout the labor and delivery process. This role offers a high level of autonomy while collaborating with anesthesiologists, physicians, NICU staff, and other care team members to ensure safe and supportive birthing experiences. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Must obtain a BSN or MSN within a specified timeframe if not held at time of hire.
  • Current Registered Nurse license from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • NRP certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in Labor & Delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification through NCC, or willingness to obtain within the first year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate and manage delivery complications.
  • Monitor fetal heart rates, administer medications, and coach patients through labor.
  • Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, and emergency OB/GYN procedures.
  • Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records.
  • Coordinate with patient safety nurses during deliveries, emergency codes, and high-risk cases.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to mothers and newborns.
