About The Position

Holy Cross Germantown Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse (RN) to join their dedicated maternity care team. Using the Quality Caring Model, the L&D Nurse provides expert, patient-centered care throughout the labor and delivery process. This role offers a high level of autonomy while collaborating with anesthesiologists, physicians, NICU staff, and other care team members to ensure safe and supportive birthing experiences. Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Must obtain a BSN or MSN within a specified timeframe if not held at time of hire.
Current Registered Nurse license from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
BLS certification (American Heart Association).
NRP certification required.
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in Labor & Delivery.

Nice To Haves

BSN or MSN preferred.
Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification through NCC, or willingness to obtain within the first year of hire.

Responsibilities

Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate and manage delivery complications.
Monitor fetal heart rates, administer medications, and coach patients through labor.
Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, and emergency OB/GYN procedures.
Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records.
Coordinate with patient safety nurses during deliveries, emergency codes, and high-risk cases.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to mothers and newborns.
